Chronic Disease Management

  • Cardiovascular Disease:

ECG and 24hr Blood pressure monitoring.
Cholesterol testing.

  • Diabetes:

Type 1 and Type 2.

  • Asthma / COPD:

Including lung function tests.

  • Skin Disease:

Including cryotherapy (freezing) and minor surgery.

Foreign Travel Vaccine Service

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio.
  • Typhoid.
  • Hepatitis A and B.
  • Yellow Fever.
  • Rabies.

Phlebotomy

  • Regular blood tests are carried out by the Practice Nurse.
  • Injections / Vaccinations.

Nurse Lucy Mannix starts her day at 8am for phlebotomy services.

Ear syringing

  • Irrigation of the ears to remove wax. Patients are advised to use wax dissolving drops for at least 3 days prior to treatment.

Cryotherapy (Freezing)

  • Used to treat warts, verruca’s, actinic keratoses (sun spots) and other lesions.

Spirometry (Breathing test)

  • Breathing test used to monitor Asthma and COPD.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

A small digital blood pressure monitor is attached to a belt around your waist and connected to a cuff around your upper arm, monitored over a 24hr period.

Venesection

  • Taking of blood to treat haemochromatosis.

Suturing and suture removal

  • Stitching of cuts and lacerations and removal of sutures / clips following surgery.

Injection/Vaccinations

  • We provide a wide range of vaccinations including Flu Vaccine, Pneumonia Vaccine, Foreign Travel and Occupational Vaccines.
  • Routine injections are given in the management of chronic disease.

Foreign Travel Vaccinations

  • We provide a full range of travel vaccinations including yellow fever.

Joint Injections

  • This involves aspiration and / or injection of painful joints in the treatment of Arthritis and Sports injuries.
  • Dr McGann specialises in providing a service to treat arthritis or injuries of the following,  shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, hips, knees, foot, ankle, tendons

Minor Surgical Procedures

  • We provide minor excisions, curettage and cryotherapy of skin lesions.

Driver Licence medicals

  • Eyesight exam and medicals for group 1 and 2 vehicles.

Insurance medicals

  • Medicals for Life and Permanent Health Insurance.

Occupational health service

We carry out:-

  1. Pre-employment medicals.
  2. Work absence assessments.
  3. Fitness for work assessments.
  4. Work accident reports.

Sports and Orthopaedic medicine

Dr. McGann is Cyriacs trained and is a member of the Irish Society of Orthopedic Medicine.
